Beginning March 26, 2018, the RMV is changing the way you get and renew your driver’s license and ID card. REAL ID is a Federal Security Standard for IDs that was created in 2005 as a result of increased federal security measures after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It is an additional layer of security for Massachusetts driver’s licenses or ID cards. Click here for more information.
RMV Identification Requirements
The RMV asks that you provide the required identification for each different type of credential you apply for even if you already have a Massachusetts ID, Liquor ID, or driver’s license.
Pay My Road Test and/or License Fees Online
Use the Online RMV Service Center to pay license and road test fees. Scroll down to the Additional Online Services section. Look for the link to Pay License And Road Test Fees.
